Action always beats intention

Action always beats intention.

I love this graphic because it blurs everything else out. Just like in the movie, For the Love of the Game w/ Kevin Costner. He plays a Detroit Tigers pitcher & when he was on the mound, before he would start bringing the heat, he would say, out loud to himself, “Clear the Mechanism.” It was his way to avoid all distractions so he could focus on the task at hand. That is how we should take action, being focused on the goal & NOT the work we have to do.

Go take action today (myself included). Be 100% confident in yourself & go after your dreams, knowing they will come to pass!!!

courage in a moment

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”  Muhammad Ali

ALL the success we desire in life will always be found outside of our comfort zones.  The great thing to recognize is we don’t need to be courageous all day, every day.  Instead, we can choose to be courageous in a moment.  What I mean is there might be a few situations a day that might require courage & that very well could make all the difference.  I would suggest choosing to exhibit 3 minutes of courage in 3 different situations every day & I 100% believe we will see our dreams become reality A LOT faster.

Courage in a moment is all it takes !!!

unachieved potential?

So there is a phrase of out one of my all-time favorite books, Think & Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill that rocked me when I first heard it & it keeps me in check when I get out of balance”

“ALL UNHAPPINESS STEMS FROM THE LACK OF UNACHIEVED POTENTIAL.”

WOW.  When you really reflect on what this means, it should be a huge eye opener.  I know for myself, I spent years trying to attain things (money, cars, status, career, etc) that I thought would satisfy.   It was ONLY when I learned to get over myself, stop being so selfish & serve others & help them become better, that I felt the most fulfilled.

I was talking w/ Sarah last night about times when I would travel back from a meeting after serving people that I felt SO alive to the point I would pound the steering wheel in excitement because I was EXACTLY where I believed God wanted me.

So, I guess, what I am saying is:  we all try to find things that make us happy & it is a never-ending chase.  Loving & serving others is where we can fulfill our POTENTIAL.  Find a place today to serve someone, it could be as simple as complimenting three people today.  Help someone load their groceries in their car, hold a door open for someone, pay someone’s toll, invest time with someone who needs a shoulder to lean on, tell someone you appreciate them & be specific why…  You will find you feel great after such simple actions & begin to recognize, as I am, that fulfilling our potential is using the talents & abilities God gave us to make a positive, profound impact on others

Have an AWESOME day !!!

Living a Thankful life

“Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you’re doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you.”

Crazy that I read this this morning, RIGHT after my morning devotional that was focused on exactly the same thing.  I find it funny how God gets my attention, totally NOT coincidence.

This, unfortunately, is an area I need to put more focus on.  I don’t like to admit it but I have let little things bother me & I have allowed myself to get upset too easily.  Maybe it’s because we have a lot of transition in our lives now (new career, moving from NY to FL, new fitness goals/life goals etc…).  I really cannot make excuses, I owe it to those around me to be more even keel with my emotions & this is something I definitely recognize needs improvement.

I’ve heard it said, “the size of a man is determined by the size of the things that get him mad.”  OUCH.   So, to those in my life who have been affected by this, I apologize & am making a concerted effort to be more patient & place more control over my emotions.

The key to overcoming this is to focus on the things we are thankful for.  When we focus on having gratitude, appreciation & thankfulness in ALL situations, the bad situations tend to shrink to their actual size…small & unimportant.  This is my focus, every day, being thankful to God for all the blessings in my life & for all the great experiences & amazing people we are blessed to share life with.
Let’s learn to relax and take every day in stride.  Don’t let things get under your skin.

Live a thankful life !!!

Habits will make, or break you!

“Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.”  Stephen Covey

Habits, I have found, will make or break you.  We are either adopting good habits that help us reach our goals or we are adopting bad habits that take us further from our goals.  For me, there are great days, good days & not-so-good days.  My goal is to progress by having more good & great days.

Interesting article I stumbled on of the habits of the world’s wealthiest people.  How many of these do you exhibit in your own life?
