Happy Resurrection Sunday !!!

Happy Resurrection Sunday!!!

Easter is NOT about candy & a bunny. It’s the day that honors the sacrifice & victory we all have through Jesus’ death & subsequent resurrection. We have victory over sin & death. We no longer have separation from God & get a restored identity. It doesn’t mean we are perfect it just means that we are made right with God when we believe in Jesus.

I’m super thankful & blessed to know that God loves us no matter what we have done or even what we might do in the future. The Bible is evident that God simply desires a relationship with us & has a profound purpose for each of us that will come to fulfillment when we honor Him & love Him first.

I pray each of you enjoys this special day with friends & family!

Your Effectiveness in Life is Knowing Your Value & Worth

Picture

When we come to realize our inherent value & worth, nothing can stop us from achieving greatness & adding value to this world. The best part, our value & worth comes from God, purified though the selfless acts of love Jesus demonstrated on our behalf.

We are NOT defined by what we do or what we say, what bad things we’ve done or the things that cause us guilt & shame. God sees us so differently…

We are children of God, created in His image, capable of greatness by exercising our free will to carry out plans for our lives, all-the-while, with God in the background carrying out His purpose through us who are obedient to Him. AMAZING life-giving & inspiring TRUTH that should fire us up to go on the offense in life & show others the value & worth they too truly have!

Judge Not or Be Judged…

Picture

So often people are critical of others, comparing & fault-finding.  Ultimately, that leaves us empty & unfulfilled.  I see SO much pain & hurt in this world & people attempt to “medicate” using many different methods.  When we have a clear mind & a clear heart, it makes ALL the difference.  God has a plan for EVERY ONE of us & it is absolutely worth digging in to find out…

I find this story truly inspirational to live the lives God would want us to.  I fear, all too often, there are many churches out there that might be victim of something like this.  But, I do believe the tide is turning & more are embracing the teachings of Jesus & living their lives in a manner that pleases God.

Have a read…

“A pastor transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning. He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service. Only 3 people said hello to him, most looked the other way. He asked people for change to buy food because he was hungry. Not one gave him anything.

He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was told by the ushers that he would need to get up and go sit n the back of the church. He said hello to people as they walked in but was greeted with cold stares and dirty looks from people looking down on him and judging him.
He sat in the back of the church and listened to the church announcements for the week. He listened as new visitors were welcomed into the church that morning but no one acknowledged that he was new. He watched people around him continue to look his way with stares that said you are not welcome here.

Then the elders of the church went to the podium to make the announcement. They said they were excited to introduce the new pastor of the church to the congregation. “We would like to introduce you to our new Pastor.” The congregation stood up and looked around clapping with joy and anticipation.

The homeless man sitting in the back stood up and started walking down the aisle.  That’s when all the clapping stopped and the church was silent. With all eyes on him….he walked up the altar and reached for the microphone. He stood there for a moment and then recited so elegantly, a verse from the Bible…..

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me.’

After he recited this, he introduced himself as their new pastor and told the congregation what he had experienced that morning. Many began to cry and bow their heads in shame. “Today I see a gathering of people here but I do not see a church of Jesus. The world has enough people that look the other way. What the world needs is disciples of Jesus that can follow this teachings and live as he did. When will YOU decide to become disciples?

He then dismissed service until the following Sunday as his sermon had been given.”

What can YOU do in your community, in your church to show people Jesus’ love?  After all, you might just be the ONLY version of Jesus they ever experience in their lifetime !!!

Application is the Key

Picture

The reality is if we only read our Bible & go to church & treat them like items off a checklist, nothing changes.  The enemy knows this & does everything he can to keep us from APPLYING the very things we are learning.  He tries to keep us busy with activities & responsibilities.  The old, “I’ll get to it tomorrow” mentality is probably one of his best tactics & we must be fully aware of it.  We must be intentional, EVERY day, to get in the Word, worship God & pray for God to help us apply these Truths in our lives.  For us to be effective as Christians, sure, we must read our Bibles.  Sure, we should go to church so we can fellowship with other Christians who will inspire & empower us in our faith to do more.  The key is getting out there every day & applying God’s Truth to our lives & in the lives of others.

We cannot be Sunday church-goers & then go back to living our lives the other six days & doing whatever we want.  Christianity is NOT a religion, it is all about a relationship.  Personally, I detest religion.  It is simply man’s attempt to put God in a box.  It’s a bunch of rules & regulations that do NOT exist in the Bible.  Jesus came & challenged all the rules that the religious elite had in place at the time.  They could not stand it.  Jesus was shaking up their belief system & simplified the entirety of God’s plan.  He took it down to “love God & love people.”

Finally, we all need to be praying daily for Holy Spirit to empower & strength us, to show us how we can press in to God’s Word more & reveal to us ways in which we can apply it.  The reality is, satan has ALREADY been defeated.  Jesus did that 2,000 years ago.  I hear people saying things like “get thee behind me satan.”  Well, Jesus said he is already under our feet.  We need to immerse ourselves in God’s Truth of the identity we have & the authority He has given us when we accept Jesus as our Savior…that we are kids of the king, created in God’s image & that we can live Christ-like, performing the very same things Jesus did.  Some might say that is sacrilege but Jesus said it himself.  In fact, He said we would do even greater things than He did because we were left with Holy Spirit, the Comforter & Counselor.  The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us through Holy Spirit.

Applying this stuff to our lives, knowing we are victorious in Christ, that we have nothing to fear & that we have ALREADY won should put us on the offense, forcefully advancing God’s Kingdom & bring the reality of Heaven to earth NOW!!!  That’s what Jesus said in the Lord’s Prayer, “on earth as it is in Heaven.”  We are to bring the reality of Heaven to earth so people can see how we are supposed to live in Christ here on earth.

It’s really exciting when we grab hold of these Truths & even more so when we are out applying them!!!

Bet on Your Strengths

Picture

Reading a lot about confidence & why so few exude it. Too many people focus their energy on their limitations or weaknesses – Why they cannot do something…I’ve been guilty of it so it’s a gut-check for me to address.

Why waste our time & energy on things we are not good at?  We are designed with unique talents & abilities & should be living from them.  We need to bet on our strengths we need to go all-in on our capabilities. Push all our chips to the middle & things will change. We need to stop comparing ourselves to others & recognize God doesn’t make any junk & that each of us is unique with tremendous potential.

Bet on your STRENGTHS!!!
